Herman and Amanda
Herman and Amanda are my grandparents, my dad's parents. This photograph was probably taken around the time they were married, which was on December 23, 1913. After they were married, they had six children and raised them on their farm in Pembina County, North Dakota, near Crystal.
Taken sometime in the late 1920's, this shows Herman and Amanda's six children from the youngest to the oldest: Margaret, Clarence (my father), Werner (Vernie), Marie, Eugene, and Harold.
This is my grandparent's farm, which we visited every year from the time I was born until the early 70's—it was easily the highlight of each year. My guess is that this photo was taken in the late 70's or in the 80's. Some buildings are missing and others have been added since the time that we were visiting regularly.
